Top 5 Tips To Increase Productivity In The Office

Many of us struggle to find ways to become more productive at work and succeed in the workplace. In order to help, here are 5 effective tips for increasing your productivity at work and making the most out of your time in the office.

1) Have a ‘To-Do’ List

Keeping your goals and tasks organised is one of the easiest ways to make sure you’re being productive at work. Google Calendar is a great free example and you can have it linked up with LinkedIn and other platforms. From there, you are able to easily view your schedule for meetings, as well as see what tasks are due depending on the day of the week.

2) Remove Distractions and Waste

Start your day by getting rid of any distractions, like email and social media, that will drain you of concentration. Temptations such as Twitter mean that you’re likely to end up multitasking, wasting time and ultimately making a poor impression on others. Removing these distractions helps you focus on the task at hand.

3) Track how much time you’re spending

If you’re concerned about your productivity, try tracking and limiting how much time you spend on tasks. A website like RescueTime can do a lot of that work for you. You can even set up notifications that let you know when it’s time to move on to the next task.

4) Take Breaks for Movement & Rest

Workplace wellness is key to boosting productivity. One easy way to do just that is to take 5–10 minute breaks throughout your workday for movement and rest. For instance, if you’re working in an office, maybe go for a short walk during your break. Or, sit down on a stability ball instead of a chair during breaks, which can help maintain muscle strength.

5) Use The Right Office Supplies

If you’re trying to improve your productivity and work more efficiently, then you want tools that will actually help make your life easier. When you don’t have the right office equipment, you can be more susceptible to some of the risks that arise from repetition of movement and office inactivity. Repetition of a movement, inactivity and bad posture in the workplace can all, over time, lead to physical problems such as Repetitive Strain injury. Often, we are causing unnecessary strain to ourselves without even being aware. You may require Ergonomic supplies and furniture to really get this done properly.
